Pet Adoption Home

About

Looking for a gentle and faithful kitten-like Maine coon? Or do you want an independent, strong, and exotic kitten?

We Are Your Favourite Rescue and Breeders

The Pet Adoption Home(PAH) is a not-for-profit organisation in USA that cares for, treats, protects and rehomes Cats across the states. As a charity, we strive to ensure that no maine coon cat is turned away or forgotten, regardless of whether they are abandoned, neglected, injured or surrendered into our care. With an ultimate goal of improving animal welfare education and keeping people and animals together, PAH acknowledges the crucial role of humans in keeping our animals safe. We run five shelters, two rehabilitation centres and three veterinary hospitals dedicated to treating, rehabilitating and rehoming animals. In addition to this, there are over 20 volunteer branches and support groups that run fundraising events and assist with local microchipping and desexing drives in lower income communities. Along with cats and dogs, GHR helps a wide range of other animals, from horses to rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, goats and sheep. We not only serve animals in need, but also owners who require guidance and support. Our programs tackle animal education and assistance in relation to domestic violence, aged care, homelessness, mental health, and more. Our Inspectorate is the largest animal enforcement unit in the US, with over 30 inspectors dedicated to investigating instances of alleged animal cruelty and a call centre equipped to handle reports. Animals deserve our protection and respect – they make our lives full and remind us what it means to live humanely.

Our Mission Statement

We are a nationwide network of volunteers who share one love, our beloved Maine Coon Cats. Our mission is:

  • To rescue abused, abandoned, surrendered, and homeless Maine Coon (MC) cats, whether registered or not.
  • To act as a liaison between shelters, animal control, and disaster agencies nationwide.
  • To assist in providing appropriate medical care to ensure all MC and MC Mix cats placed directly through, or into carefully screened Maine Coon Rescue (MCR) foster homes are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots, tested for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped.
  • To provide carefully screened foster homes prior to re-homing.
  • To assist in assuring that they are placed in carefully screened forever homes.
  • To share our wisdom and knowledge of this magnificent breed to assist in identifying MC/MC Mix cats that wind up in shelters.
  • To educate potential adopters about the breed.
  • To alert breeders that a cat from their cattery may need help.
  • To network with other rescue and transport groups and pool our resources.
  • To help transport MC/MC mix cats to their temporary foster or new forever homes.
  • To remain ever at hand, if needed, after a successful rescue has taken place.
  • To assist in providing resources, education, and information regarding spay/neuter, declawing, behavior problems, and indoor/outdoor issues.

Rescue Policies

Pet Adoption Home (PAH) is dedicated to breeding and most importantly rescuing abused, abandoned and homeless Maine Coon and Maine Coon mix cats, and placing them in carefully screened, permanent homes or foster homes where they will be well cared for. PAH will assist animal shelters and work closely with other rescue organizations to find homes for Maine Coon or Maine Coon mix cats in their care.

Please see our DISCLAIMER for additional information.

Pedigree/Registered Maine Coons: A Maine Coon that has documentation to prove their parentage. Cats that do not have clear documentation of their parentage are not represented by this organization as “Maine Coons”. They will be presented as either Maine Coon Mix or Maine Coon/DLH mix.

Maine Coon mix: In the absence of clear documentation and/or first-hand knowledge of the origin of all cats listed on the MCR website, Maine Coon Rescue mailing list, Maine Coon Rescue Petfinder Site, Facebook, etc., determination of the origin of these cats must be made based on their appearance and personality. Appearance and personality are determined by the validation of our Regional Directors (RD) and Regional Case Managers (RCM). The cat’s appearance will either clearly match the breed standard, or will be based upon the presence of physical characteristics and personality traits that are shared by purebred Maine Coon cats.

NETWORKING: Our rescue volunteers share information with each other about Maine Coons, Maine Coon mix cats requiring rescue, as well as information regarding potential adopters and other volunteers in an effort to utilize all available resources and networks.

Transport Policies

Once our Maine Coons have been vetted and loved by our fosters, they are ready to go to their forever homes. Will you help these cats reach their final destination to a loving forever home?

Air Transportation

Maine Coon Rescue will never ship cats via cargo. MCR will when possible be pleased to assist with air transport when the cat is accompanied by someone and physically carried on the airplane. There are several carriers that are considered to be “Airline Approved” (check with your airline carrier) for carry-on of a pet. A “Sherpa” is the best choice for placing the cat under the seat in front of you, as it is not rigid and can conform to the allocated space. A Health Certificate will also be required dated within 10 days of the scheduled flight. Check with your airline carrier for any other requirements. (Please note not all cats are eligible to be transported by air.)

Funding of Transportation

MCR will transport cats within a reasonable distance. The distance is usually determined by the foster. Not every cat is eligible to be transported long distances. There is an $85.00 transport fee that is applied when the adopter is not driving at least half the distance to meet the adopter.

From start to finish, the staff at pet adoption home have been absolutely amazing and the most superb customer service has been provided to us. I cannot fault them at all. We have just adopted our two babies (Presh and Silver). We fell in love with them straight away via their website and registered our interest, within days I had signed up for a call back with Paige who was very supportive and attentive and confirmed Presh and Silver seemed like the perfect match for our family.
